“Impulse” conducts a workshop for ITMO Advanced Engineering School
Within the framework of collaboration between Russian universities, CAWI held a workshop for ITMO (St. Petersburg). On November 16, master students of ITMO Advanced Engineering School got an overview of some principles of creating an academic text in English. Emphasizing the differences in patterns of written discourse in English and Russian, Valeria Evdash and Nadezhda Zhuravleva discussed the three components of a written text: content, structure, and language. The workshop participants noted that some differences in language and structure were new to them, so the seminar was useful and the interactive format provoked thinking about the content. Such events will hopefully occur again and will strengthen the cooperation between Russian universities.
