The meeting devoted to the development of writing centers at Russian universities
On April 26th, 2016, the representatives of the Center for Academic Writing Valeria Evdash and Nadezhda Zhuravleva participated in the meeting devoted to the development of writing centers at Russian universities.The meeting was hosted by Smolensk University for Humanities with the support of the English Language Office at the USA Embassy in Moscow within the framework of the International Conference of National Association of Teachers of English (NATE) in Russia. Representatives of various educational establishments across Russia discussed the challenges of managing academic writing centers, shared their experience. Besides, they took part in interactive workshops. Jerrold Frank, English Language Officer at the USA Embassy in Moscow, highlighted the urgent imperative to develop a consortium for academic writing centers in Russia. Eve Smith, English Language Specialist from the USA, held a discussion of the main potential activities of the Consortium to-be.
The experience of participation in this meeting will enable the Center to implement the best practices of other writing centers into its work.
