Improving Academic Writing with “Nature”!

From February 6th to February 9th, 2017, three representatives of the Center, Valeria Evdash, Nadezhda Zhuravleva, and Irina Belyakova, had a great opportunity to participate in training workshops “Publishing Academies: Improving the impact of your research” developed by Springer Nature.

The workshops were conducted at Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg. Having experience of conducting over 200 training workshops to improve publication output worldwide the trainer, Jeffrey Robens, gave insights into publishing process from the initial steps of writing to the presentation of your research. The workshop was attended by 150 regional researchers with varied experience in publishing in international journals.

Though the number of participants was quite large, Jeffrey managed to create a collaborative atmosphere and interaction, encouraging questions and discussion.  After each section there were hands-on tasks aimed at summarizing the section and turning theory into practice.

The main message of the workshop was communicating your research clearly and concisely through publishing in scientific journals and presenting your findings at conferences.  Jeffrey gave some tips how to promote your research and make it more attractive for peers.

All the discussed strategies on improving the impact of your research are quite essential and the tutors are planning to transmit these ideas to the University researchers.
