Three-day workshops encouraged the University researchers to develop grant proposals

On May 15-18, about 50 researchers of the University and its branches took part in a series of workshops on Writing Grants Proposals organized by the Center. The workshops were conducted by Panda Powell , the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs & Research Compliance at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), USA.  Panda mentioned that their Office helps people to look for relevant grants, develop proposals and plan the grant budget.

The workshop series covered nuts and bolts of writing grant proposals. First of all, researchers should be fully aware of the purpose and the expected outcomes of the project. It is also crucial to collaborate with suitable partners and other stakeholders to show the significance of the research.  And surely, researchers have to develop their budget carefully, clearly explaining all expenses. Panda gave examples of such calculations and some tips on what to include and what to avoid.

The university researchers asked a lot of questions and shared their experience of successes and failures in developing their own proposals. The main purpose of the workshops – to encourage researchers to apply for grants - was achieved.
