Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted.
Writing is thinking on paper.
When writing about science, don't simplify the science; simplify the writing.
Writing is a lot easier if you have something to say.
Good writing is clear thinking made visible.

Only the educated are free.
One`s work may be finished someday, but one`s education never.
What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to the soul.
Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
Climate Change: Reality or Exaggeration?
The topic of the ADC meeting on April 24 was “Climate Change: Reality or Exaggeration?”The moderator was Nina Nesterova, a junior researcher at the lab of polar and subpolar geosystems at the sector "Cryolitogenic, biological, energetic and informational resources of Arctic", X-BIO.
Nina graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University (faculty of geography, department of World Physical Geography and Geoecology). She graduated with a master’s degree from Lund University, Sweden (the department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science at the faculty of Science). She has always been interested in the Arctic region from different aspects of physical geography, now her interests are more focused on permafrost landscapes and remote methods of permafrost research.
The aim of the discussion was not to convince the audience whether climate change exists or not, but to give some information and insights about the trends, the data, and the main conceptions assumed in the scientific society. Additionally, the participants talked about the main skeptical statements, and in the end, discussed socio-political aspects of climate change. To get ready for the discussion, participants were expected to watch some videos. The discussion involved some controversial issues.
"Thank you for arranging the discussion on such an important topic as Climate Change and thanks to Nina for holding the discussion. As for me, it was fascinating to listen to the opinions of people out of my scientific circle where climate change is a usual topic. From my perspective, the discussion was curious. Also, I liked that the topic was science-based."
Elena Matyuhina, Institute of Social Sconces and Humanities:
"I would like to thank Nina for her work as a moderator. It was hard to speak very much, because of the lack of special words. But I have done my best to take part in the discussion."
Anastasia Lyovkina, Insitute of Finance and Economics:
"The discussion club on the issues of global warming was a really outrageous event: excellent presentation of the topic, hot discussion on many aspects of the problem of climate change, and atmosphere of constructive interdisciplinary scientific communication! I think that this form of communication and education should gain high popularity in modern universities and it is very important to develop discussion clubs on complex interdisciplinary problems in English according to the strategy of our University. Many thanks to the Impulse team for the warm atmosphere and organization of this event!"
